This is probably pretty close to the original. I left it as a png file so the jpg compression wouldn't degrade it. Hope it helps and good luck with your project.

Hi

Hi
I fiddled around a little with your picture. Is this (partly) what you had in mind. I used the clone tool and the blur tool on it. It took me about five minutes to get to this point. I made a recording if you need to see what I did.
You could probably do a little better since it's your project. I just wanted to sort of show one possible solution and didn't try to be too precise.

Saylor Cemetery, located in Sparta, TN has a nice assortment of "tent" graves. (see link below) It also has this interesting marker (which I took the liberty of moving for mostly artistic reasons) in an area of unmarked graves.

You don't have to answer this question if you don't want to.
Would this cause you to reconsider your support ?

I've been following this case for years. Aside from the Snopes article
(who I generally consider to be truthful and unbiased)
I absolutely believe her claims to be true. It happened near my home town and working class people that I trusted claimed that they had good reason to believe her.

I fired up SketchGuru this morning and played around for a while. The original shot was a good choice I think. It was way too long, in fading light and hand held. It almost had to get better with a little push.

Brother Theo says- it makes a darn nice zen garden though.
Princess Lizzie says - Daddysan needs a good shrink.

My artistic choices are limited since my laptop runs Vista and now my favorite editors quit working. So this is all done in GIMP with the Charcoal filter coming from G'MIC.

First, scoop up all the hidden treasure. Then add a nice fresh layer and shake it/smooth and rake it. Only then realize that all the fancy lines and stuff aren't showing up in the picture. Fix that with a lasso tool from GIMP and a gradient that's radient er, radial and then turn it into a charcoal sketch with G'MIC.
I added the text and fiddled with the perspective, trying for a cinematic effect and then brought the colors back with a copy of the original with the layer mode set to color. Finally, I boosted them a little and brought the contrast up a bit for a "graphic illustration" look.

Comments including critiques and marginally related topics are required. Thanks in advance. (examples below)
"I would have done it different", or "Life is like a big box of cat turds" or "that looks like tree rings, do you like ice cream" ?

I was shooting a challenge shot last week for the word "Lines"

I was shooting a challenge shot last week for the word "Lines"
Lucky for me, I don't suffer from hay fever. It was still and sticky and awfully hot but I liked the results.
Then when I was packing up to go, the light started dancing in some powerlines and I ended up with a nice "sketch" project.

The pix are captioned and here is a very brief BTS if you care about such things. There was a whole lot of moving sliders around and trying different things but I'll keep the recap short. I'll skip over all the head scratching and bad words too.

The original shot was BIG. I cropped it for composition and also to cut down on the processing time. That left me with the third image. I used the pencil filter in G"MIC to make the second one and layered the third on top of it using the "color" layer mode. That's it.
(it looks so easy if you type it fast)

BTW - zoom in

Hi

Hi
I really did like the pokeymon-go picture. I was going to a comment about the picture and hadn't even given the caption much thought. Then I noticed the "fat" thread and lost track of my impressions. I guess where I'm headed with this is to say that while some of the responses might not be what you expected, they felt like strong emotional responses. Like maybe - you touched a nerve. Not the one you expected but you still really did touch one (or two).
That leads me to say - Wow ! That's a really powerful picture and post !
Rick, you might get some good feedback if you share pix here.

I liked Rachel Ferris picture so much that I had to try my hand at it.

I liked Rachel Ferris picture so much that I had to try my hand at it. Of course since I'm left-handed I had to do it backwards. Instead of cell phone picture of my computer, I took a webcam shot of my phone.

So first I had to find the camera. Thanks kitties, I needed the exercise anyway. Then I had to try to remember how to turn it on. I finally gave up and pretended to take a new fb profile picture and screen grabbed it with Screenpresso. Then I threw just about everything that Pixlr had to throw at it. There's some engraving, embossing and half toning as well as some posterizing and water swirling on a couple of layers and a mirror (horizontal) flip at the end.
And FTR - I love the new phone, but the camera is yucky. It's a Galaxy Core Prime and it really was thirty bucks from Straight Talk. If anybody knows a good camera app, holler back y'all.

Did I miss anything interesting or is your #posthuntlife  simply an evolutionary event ? I did join the mini-hunt group but skipped the endless invitations to the other thing.

Ok - I'll give...
I have one.
I sometimes have to add an * on the end or capitalize the first letter. I've been using it off and one since the early 80's.
so far so good/if it ain't broke don't fix it.
for extra security - I cross my fingers sometimes

Hi

Hi
Elizabeth Childs asked me for my "take" on this matter.
I'll take a shot at it but also would like to share it around to see if some other (smarter) folks I know could offer some input it I may ?
The process of making a jpg file does, in my understanding, compress the file is such a way that some of the information gets lost. I believe there are ways to share images that are less destructive. I'd suggest you try perhaps TIFF or maybe GIF ?
Anyways - let me know if it's okay to reshare this publically and maybe "tag in" a friend or two. Also - you might consider, when asking a question like this, to allow comments. It would be simpler for folks to answer directly on the post.

Am noticing that the conversion from RAW to jpg degrades the quality of the image. Is this "me" or is it the actual case? Cannot post the RAW image alongside the jpg to show this loss.
If this is the case about converting from RAW to jpg... am thinking to exaggerate the processing of RAW images, so that when the jpg conversion is complete... the jpg will actually appear the correct way. Does this make sense?

Hi - I saw this on face-boo. Figured I should pass it on.

FRIDAY'S LAUGH OF THE DAY!
Qantas Airlines: Repair Division
Remember, it takes a college degree to fly a plane but only a high school diploma to fix one.
After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a 'Gripe Sheet' which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft.
The mechanics correct the problems; document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the Gripe Sheets before the next flight.
Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humour.
Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.
By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident.

P: Left inside main tyre almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tyre.
P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.
P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.
P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.
P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.
P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.
P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.
P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what friction locks are for.
P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.
P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.
P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.
P: Aircraft handles funny............ (I love this one!)
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.
P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.
P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.
And the best one for last..................
P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

I've been hitting the GIMP manual hard for a few days and just needed to take a break.

I've been hitting the GIMP manual hard for a few days and just needed to take a break. This is the entrance to Hidden Hollow. It's a run down, old school, local family attraction with a bazillion or so photo ops. I ran it through XnSketch and tweaked it in FastStone. Maybe I should do a "project" and call it The Bridges of Putnam County.

Good Morning

Good Morning

Regarding my "Hair" comment on the Arto post: I meant that I liked what the app did to your hair...
Yes, yes I do think you are quite beautiful. I think I remember seeing a picture of you with some people or something somewhere and though something like OMG - she's even hotter than I imagined or something like that.
I would like to think that I have better manners though than to go tossing about personal comments about you. Also - there's the whole "respect" thing and I think that"s sort of a big deal. I have a lot of respect for your photography and think you're a great artist.
So anyway - have a great weekend stuff.
t.k.

PS: I've added a definition to the Urban Dictionary regarding the ever newer and so very much improved google plustification.

Lingchi: Death by a thousand cuts. The Slow Death. Traditional Chinese form of torture and execution reserved for the most heinous crimes. Also the process that Google is using on Google + since it left the beta phase. A slow lingering process whereby useful features are sliced off one piece at a time.
